GOOD ETIQUETTE
GO
BACK
A good golfer knows
just as much about good manners on the course as they do about playing all the
shots. Following a few rules of etiquette makes the game more fun
for everyone. Remember: Good etiquette is contagious.
Here are a few of
the basic rules of etiquette that you need to know.
|
MARKING
YOUR BALL
A
very simple rule applies here: Never leave your ball unmarked once
you are on the green surface. If you don't sink your first putt,
either tap it in or mark it. |
FIXING
BALL MARKS
Another
no-brainer: If your ball lands on the green from outside 20 yards,
look for the ball mark and repair it. Learn to carry a divot tool with
you and use it as needed.
|
WATCH
YOUR STEP
Take
care to not step in the path of other peoples balls. Walk slowly
around the green taking note of everyone's line. Stepping in someone's line
is like letting a door slam in someone's face. |
|
TENDING THE
FLAG
The player
nearest to the hole is responsible for removing the flag. After
checking to see if anyone needs the flag tended, remove the flag and gently
place it just off the green surface. The last person to putt returns
the flag. |
FAIRWAY
ETIQUETTE
The person
farthest away from the hole plays first. Go to your ball and be ready to
play when it's your turn. If you are sharing a cart, drop one person off
, then go to the other ball. When you can, let faster players through. |
