NEW YORK GOLF TIPS
DON'T PINCH
Helpful Hints For All New York City
Golfers |
Fact: The
grip is the most important part of the golf swing. A good grip means good
golf; you'd be better off taking up tennis because you'll can't get better with
a bad grip. Bad grips get formed early and come from single minded
and desperate attempts to kill the ball. New players use the Power Pinch
(see below) The right thumb (for right handed golfers) is placed directly
on top of the grip. The grip is then pinched between the thumb and
forefinger in an effort to exert control over the swing.
Anyway
you pinch it, this grip squeezes the life out of your swing.

The
Power Pinch |
| Things really HEAT
up with this grip. Your hands will turn red from all the
pressure. The more you pinch, the less distance you'll get. |

|
Cool things off by taking the
pressure off the right thumb and forefinger. |
|
|
| A best position for the right thumb is just to the left of
the top of the grip and extend the forefinger down the grip and wrap it
around so that the thumb and forefinger almost touch (Arrow
#1) A softly placed thumb and forefinger will facilitate
the proper release of the club through the ball. You can apply
modest pressure with the other fingers. Focus on keeping good
pressure with the right palm over the left thumb (Arrow
#2) Apply pressure with the back three fingers of the left
hand (Arrow #3) Don't let the thumb
and forefinger squeeze the life out of your swing. |
